A Philadelphia jury returned a nearly $5 million verdict against numerous health care professionals and medical centers, finding the practitioners failed to properly treat a man’s underlying heart condition, leading to his death at 35.

The case, Turner v. Carter, was tried for more than a week before Philadelphia Judge Charles J. Cunnigham III before the jury returned a verdict of $4.7 million in damages. Because the jury also found 30% comparative negligence against the plaintiff, the amount was reduced to $3.29 million.
