You probably weren’t here for the splendid pyrotechnics that surrounded the creation of my court in the early eighties. Too bad. The political fireworks and legal light show that surrounded the birth of the Fourth District Court of Appeal, Division 3, was worth the price of admission.

I give a pretty entertaining speech about it, but it’s rarely heard. Turns out telling someone looking for a speaker, “I’ve got just the speech for you; it’s a political history of the Orange County division of the Court of Appeal,” is a good way to dodge a public speaking request.
