Google, Apple and Facebook have turned to the federal Communications Decency Act to wipe out dozens of lawsuits brought over their casino apps, but a string of recent decisions in California on the law’s immunity has both sides dueling.

The lawsuits allege all three tech companies are liable for casino apps that violate illegal gambling laws in numerous states. But the defendants insist that Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act clearly protects “interactive computer service” companies, like them, from liability for third parties, such as the developers of the casino apps.
