As new workplace norms continue to emerge in the legal industry, a growing number of associates are taking issue with not just new attendance policies, but how firms communicate and deploy their return-to-work strategies.

Frustrations surfaced in The American Lawyer’s Midlevel Associates Survey, as firms have refined their hybrid policies, in some cases mandating additional days of attendance. But even firms without an official mandate have ruffled some associates, who’ve tacked their complaints to the lack of clear guidance, transparency or an opportunity to offer input.
