SAN FRANCISCO — IP litigator John (Jay) Neukom has left Mayer Brown in Palo Alto to join Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan as a partner in San Francisco.

Neukom, 37, said he wasn’t looking to leave Mayer Brown, having just made partner in December. But Quinn Emanuel offered more opportunities to work on high-stakes litigation for high-profile companies, and more chances to try cases, whether before a federal court jury or a judicial panel at the International Trade Commission.
