Fenwick & West elected attorneys Scott Behar, Sheeva Ghassemi-Vanni and Faisal Rashid to partnership beginning Jan. 1, 2018. Behar represents companies in domestic and cross-border transactions and works in the San Francisco office. Also based in San Francisco, Rashid counsels companies in negotiating financial transactions and mergers and acquisitions. Ghassemi-Vanni focuses her practice on labor and employment issues and is based in the Mountain View office.
San Jose-based law firm McManis Faulkner brought on Christopher Boscia as a senior associate. Previously, Boscia served as deputy district attorney for Santa Clara County.
James Davis and Eric Issadore have been named partners at Ropes & Gray. Davis focuses on intellectual property litigation and is based in Silicon Valley. Issadore advises private equity firms and strategic investors on buyouts and mergers, and splits time between the Silicon Valley and San Francisco offices. Ropes & Gray also promoted Kathryn Hong from associate to counsel. Hong works in the Silicon Valley office's intellectual property litigation practice.
Ropers Majeski Kohn Bentley brought on Mark Gnesin as of counsel. Gnesin focuses his practice on personal injury, property damage and construction defect claims and will be based in the Los Angeles office. He was previously a partner at Murchison & Cumming.
Marc Young joined Allen Matkins as a real estate finance partner in the firm's Los Angeles office. Young previously served as Morrison & Foerster's real estate group chair for more than a decade.
Katherine Prescott joined Fish & Richardson's Silicon Valley office as of counsel. Prescott is a patent and trade secret trial lawyer, and is returning to Fish & Richardson after eight years.
Wendel Rosen Black & Dean has named Kevin Rodriguez the chair of its trust and estate litigation practice group. Rodriguez is a partner at Wendel Rosen and also has experience in estate planning. The firm has offices in Oakland and Modesto.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
