Let’s start this morning with the image above. 

It is a drawing typical of what you’d see in a patent application, and indeed that’s what it is. This image was pulled from an application for a patent for a tool to balance the tension in knee ligaments during knee replacement surgery. It turns out, when it comes to total knee replacements, the long-term prognosis is a lot better when you make sure that the soft tissue is appropriately calibrated through the full range of motion.
