Why did you become a lawyer? I come from a family of lawyers and it’s in the genes. But a job in my second year at uni, sponsored holidays (sorry, Linklaters’ language bursaries) and a couple more years as a student were all pretty appealing.

Who has been the biggest influence on your career? As a junior lawyer, I was greatly influenced by Dominic Welham, a Linklaters partner who died of cancer in 2007 aged 44. He showed me how to be a great lawyer while having fun. More recently Charlie Jacobs, a truly exceptional lawyer, has taught me the four ‘c’s – commitment, courteousness, commerciality and clients (lots of them).
