A federal magistrate judge has denied Syracuse University’s attempt to shield 22 documents related to the allegations against former assistant basketball coach Bernie Fine because of attorney-client privilege.

Magistrate Judge David Peebles (See Profile) ruled that the university failed to show that the privilege applied to the documents, except to two communications between former chancellor Nancy Cantor and university lawyers, but ordered redactions made to each.
