Dentons and Dacheng, the largest firm in Asia, sealed a groundbreaking tie-up in late January. The combination created the largest global firm by attorney head count. It also marked the first time a major Chinese firm—in this case, one with about 4,000 lawyers and a clientele that includes many of the country’s most important private and state-controlled enterprises—has extended its advisory reach globally.

It will take about 90 days for the combined 6,600-lawyer megafirm (under a Swiss verein structure) to resolve administrative matters necessary to proceed with full integration, according to a Dentons spokesman.
