Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman will moderate a panel of top state judges convening on Monday for the annual Cooke State Constitutional Commentary Symposium at Albany Law School.
Other state chief justices also scheduled to appear are Thomas Balmer of Oregon, Mary Ellen Barbera of Maryland, Mark Cady of Iowa and Paul Reiber of Vermont.
They will discuss independent decision-making by state courts, the varying roles that chief justices play from state to state, the judicial selection process, how state high courts select cases, and other issues, according to Albany Law officials.
