Robert Capers, a longtime federal prosecutor with deep law enforcement roots, has been recommended by U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer as the next Eastern District U.S. Attorney.

Robert Capers, a longtime federal prosecutor with deep law enforcement roots, has been recommended by U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer as the next Eastern District U.S. Attorney.
If nominated by the White House and confirmed in the Senate, Capers, 44, would fill the position formerly held by Loretta Lynch, who became U.S. Attorney General last month.
Kelly Currie is currently the acting U.S. attorney.
