Legal groups that represent plaintiffs and defense lawyers are concerned about what they say is an ill-defined evidentiary standard in a recently passed bill that limits access to evidence of a defendant's net worth. But Texans for Lawsuit Reform supports the proposal.

The House on May 21 debated Senate Bill 735 and amended it once. On May 22, the House voted 93-44 to pass the bill. The Senate accepted the changes on May 28, which clears the way for the bill to head to Gov. Greg Abbott.

TLR supported SB 735 through the whole legislative process.
