Judge Tim Wright of Georgetown will appear in federal court this afternoon to plead guilty to two federal criminal charges alleging that he sold guns without a license and lied to federal investigators about it.

Wright, judge of the Williamson County Court-at-Law No. 2, pleaded not guilty to nine charges in the April 7 indictment in his case. But the government on May 27 filed a superseding information that charged the judge with one count of engaging in business of dealing firearms without a license and one count of false statement to government agents. Both charges are felonies that could each bring up to five years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine. A May 27 plea agreement in the case was not immediately available electronically.

Lora Makowski, supervisory program specialist in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Texas, said that Wright would plead guilty to both charges in the superseding information.
