When he was sworn in as the president of the Florida Bar, Miami litigator Ramon Abadin knew he was going to have a challenging year, but he had no idea just how challenging.

Abadin's one-year presidency, which started June 26, coincided with the release of the Bar's three-year Vision 2016 report, an extensive study of changes facing the legal profession.

The issue that has ignited a firestorm is reciprocity, allowing out-of-state lawyers to practice in Florida without taking the Florida Bar exam. The issue has lawyers sending hundreds of protest emails to Abadin, bar groups issuing statements of opposition and some lawyers even calling for his removal.
