SAN FRANCISCO — Attorneys facing a broad range of practice-related claims are protected by a one-year statute of limitations, the state Supreme Court ruled on Thursday.

The high court found the cutoff, which applies to causes of action “arising in the performance of [a lawyer's] professional services,” extends beyond the traditional definition of malpractice and includes suits over non-legal obligations, such as bookkeeping and fee collection.
