Pedro Jaime Torres-Diaz, managing partner of Jackson Lewis's Puerto Rico office and a shareholder in its Miami office, was elected president-elect of the Hispanic National Bar Association.

Torres-Diaz, who specializes in labor and employment law, was elected at the 40th annual HNBA convention in Boston.

Other South Florida lawyers serving as officers include Irene Oria, special counsel at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan in Miami, who was appointed national finance director; Raquel Matas, associate dean of administration and counsel to the University of Miami law dean, who was appointed vice president of external affairs; and Maria Dantes-Sanchez, regional general attorney, Liberty Mutual Group in Miami, who was elected Florida regional president of the association.
