Simpson Thacher & Bartlett represents Round Rock-based Dell Inc. and private equity company Silver Lake in their pending acquisition of computer data storage company EMC Corp. for about $67 billion in cash and stock. EMC turned to Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, and Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz is advising Michael Dell, the founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Dell, and MSD Partners.

MSD Partners is an investment adviser formed by principals of MSD Capital, which manages the capital of Michael Dell and his family.

The acquisition would create the world's largest privately held integrated technology company. Dell will continue to be headquartered in Round Rock following the acquisition.
