Christian Cavallo (above, right) and Christopher Weiss have joined Goldberg Segalla in Princeton. Cavallo, a partner, is an insurance coverage litigator with extensive experience representing insurers in high-value cases in the state and federal courts of New York and New Jersey. He was the recipient of the Thurgood Marshall Award, which was given to him by the New York City Bar Association for his pro bono work representing a death-row inmate. Before joining Goldberg Segalla, Cavallo was an associate at Riker, Danzig, Scherer, Hyland & Perretti in Morristown. He earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where he received the Robert J. Fiske Jr. Fellowship Award, in 2007, and his B.A. from Providence College in 2003. Weiss, an associate, represents insurers in complex insurance coverage disputes and has significant experience working on behalf of insurers embroiled in matters arising from Superstorm Sandy. Weiss was previously an associate at Morgan Melhuish Abrutyn in Livingston. He earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from the American University Washington College of Law in 2010 and was inducted into the Order of the Coif upon graduation. He received his B.A., magna cum laude, from Ohio State University in 2007.

Six Join Helmer Conley

The law firm of Helmer, Conley & Kasselman is pleased to announce six attorneys have joined the firm as of counsel. Richard Shapiro has been practicing law since 1983 and was in private practice with the firm of Shapiro & Shapiro prior to joining the firm. He will focus his practice in family law and will primarily work out of the firm’s Haddon Heights office. A. Morton Shapiro was a solo practitioner for 30 years, and then beginning in 1983 he practiced with the law firm of Shapiro & Shapiro in Cherry Hill. William Kearns Jr. was in private practice with the firm of Kearns, Reale & Kearns prior to joining the firm. He will continue to focus his practice in local government, municipal land use and business law and will primarily work out of the firm’s Willingboro office. Ellen Kearns was in private practice with the firm of Kearns, Reale & Kearns prior to joining the firm. She will continue to focus her practice in residential real estate and estate planning and administration, and will primarily work out of the firm’s Willingboro office. Samuel “Skip” Reale Jr. was also with Kearns Reale prior to joining the firm. He will continue to focus his practice in litigation, alcoholic beverage licensing, local government law and transactions, and administrative proceedings, and will primarily work out of the firm’s Willingboro office. Barry Serebnick served as a Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutor from 1993 to 2012 and most recently was a litigation associate in a New Brunswick law firm. He will focus on litigation and criminal matters and will work out of the firm’s Freehold office.
