It's been a busy fall for Sutherland Asbill & Brennan's energy practice. The firm has handled three energy deals—in wind, natural gas and oil—with lawyers from its Atlanta headquarters, Houston, Washington and New York that have been announced since November.

In the wind deal, Atlanta energy partner Thomas Warren led a Sutherland team advising Enbridge Inc. on its purchase of a West Virginia wind farm for $200 million. Enbridge, a public energy company based in Calgary, Canada, bought the New Creek Wind Project in Grant County, West Virginia, from EverPower Wind Holdings, an independent renewable energy developer, in a deal announced Nov. 25.

The 103-megawatt project is construction-ready. With 49 wind turbines, it is expected to be in service by December 2016. It is backed by renewable energy credit (REC) sales and offtake agreements with fixed pricing through mid- and long-term contracts.
