With the election of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the Canadian electorate embraced a change that could wipe clean much of what it has experienced from the national government for the past decade. The same now goes for the country’s legal departments and in-house counsel.
Most policy changes won’t be introduced until at least February, when Trudeau lays out his proposal for a new federal budget. Until then, Canadian legal teams must look to promises made on the campaign trail for guidance on what types of regulatory changes could be in the pipeline. And those changes will be extensive.
