The combined revenue of listed law firm Gateley plc and its Scottish arm HBJ Gateley grew by 11% during 2015-16, figures released by the firm show.

In the financial year to 30 April, the combined business took in revenues of £88.7m, up from £80m in 2014-15.

Gateley floated on the London Stock Exchange's AIM market in June 2015, becoming the first UK law firm to go public. This June, the English firm announced a 2015-16 revenue increase of 10% to £67.1m, up from £60.9m last year.

Regulatory restrictions in Scotland mean the firm's offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen were not part of the listing and trade as HBJ Gateley. The Scottish business took in revenue of £21.6m in 2015-16.

London accounted for 7% of the combined firm's revenue, the rest of the UK 92% and the Middle East 1%.

Meanwhile, 2015-16 saw the firm launch an office in Reading in December, its seventh in England, with the hire of Pitmans' former managing partner Christopher Avery.

In April, the firm also acquired tax incentives advisory business Capitus for £2.72m. Now renamed Gateley Capitus, the business has offices in London, Birmingham, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
