DAC Beachcroft has continued its recent expansion into Latin America by agreeing two more associations with local law firms.

The firm has signed deals with Central American firm BLP and Peruvian firm Torres Carpio Portocarrero & Richter (TCPR).

BLP has 26 partners across nine offices spanning Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Honduras, while TCPR has four partners based in Peru's capital, Lima.

DAC Beachcroft opened in Mexico in 2003 and has since launched offices in Chile, Colombia and Miami, alongside an association with full-service Brazilian firm Demarest.

Managing partner David Pollitt said the move marked "a further important step in the firm's expansion plans, adding to our existing strong network in the Latin American region".

BLP insurance head Neftali Garro said: "The synergies between the high quality service both firms provide to the international insurance market make this new association an exciting opportunity and one we look forward to capitalising on."

DAC Beachcroft launched in Chile in 2012 after a three-way merger with local firms SegurosLex and Amunategui & Cia, and subsequently merged with Colombian insurance-focused firm De La Torre & Monroy Abogados Asociados in 2013.

In 2015, the firm opened an office in Miami – a key hub for the Latin American insurance market – with the hire of a former senior lawyer at US insurer AIG.

Other law firms to have targeted the Latin American market recently include DLA Piper, which opened an office in Puerto Rico earlier this year and is planning on launching an office in Chile.

Insurance rival Kennedys has also been active in the market, opening offices in Chile, Colombia, Brazil and Peru in recent months.
