Capita has completed a review of its commercial legal panel, with Addleshaw Goddard, Pinsent Masons, Eversheds Sutherland and DWF among the law firms on the new line-up.

A total of 21 firms have been appointed as a result of the review, which was led by commercial manager Brendan Quinn and finalised last month.

The business process outsourcer's last review of the panel was completed in 2015.

A partner at one of the successful firms said the commercial legal panel does not cover M&A work, which is handled via a separate panel.

Capita, which has clients in central government, local government and the private sector, handles work including collecting TV licence fees for the BBC. The company recently fell out of the FTSE 100 after its profits before tax fell almost 20% from £585.5m in 2015 to £475.3m in 2016.

In 2013, it moved into the legal process outsourcing market after sealing a deal with Pinsent Masons to handle document review work in Poland. Pinsents instructed Capita to review documents in relation to a large dispute case, with the work sent to the company's operation in Krakow.

The same year, Capita also entered the UK legal services market via the acquisition of the English business of Optima Legal, which offers conveyancing, property, litigation and recovery services. Optima was granted alternative business structure status for the purposes of the acquisition, which became part of Capita Legal Services.
