Next week kicks off another Legalweek and its flagship Legaltech conference. Alongside panel discussions taking place all week will be a host of companies exhibiting the latest and greatest in legal technologies.
A number of companies will debut new products and upgrades while at the show. And while Legaltech News would love to cover them all, we only have so much time (and space!). Here's a by-no-means-exhaustive snapshot of some of this news. Be sure to check out everyone on the exhibit hall floor starting next Tuesday.
And that isn't all: We'll be back with a roundup of even more news post-show that hasn't yet been announced. Happy Legalweek everyone!

Advanced Discovery
Advanced Discovery recently launched Advanced Message Review, a patent-pending e-discovery solution for global mobile data. With mobile devices now dominating the share of total minutes spent online and the continued acceleration of text and chat messaging, this technology normalizes multisource content into an easy-to-review, relationship-based conversation thread compatible with all major review platforms.
In addition, the company recently expanded its Riskcovery solution's predictive analytics taxonomies to include a new sexual harassment taxonomy with which to identify and assess patterns of inappropriate workplace behavior within an organization's electronically stored information. The sexual harassment taxonomy can be customized to an organization's specific code of conduct, governing law or other relevant input.
Casetext
San Francisco startup Casetext this month released two new features—Black Letter Law and Holdings—that allow users to search through undisputed law and case summaries. The two features can be accessed through simple keyword searches and Casetext's platform CARA (Case Analysis Research Assistant), which uses predictive algorithms to tailor results to a particular user, document or matter. Casetext built out the two features by parsing through its own proprietary database. Black Letter Law relies on statements of law described by courts as “well-settled” or “well-established,” while Holdings centralizes judges' summaries of previous courts' opinions.
Catalyst
E-discovery and regulatory compliance group Catalyst has launched its own analytics tool for its corporate e-discovery platform. Catalyst Analytics, the new tool, will feature real-time project data across multiple matters and custodians in a centralized database. It can also schedule automated reports to stakeholders via email with any set frequency. Now available for a wider audience, the tool aims to serve up key analytics to multiple different kinds of users, from the litigation support staff up to the chief legal officer.
Deloitte
Professional services firm Deloitte has expanded its nine-year relationship with Relativity, the providers of the e-discovery platform of the same name. The new strategic alliance focuses on delivering data governance solutions to clients with increased speed, flexibility and efficiency by leveraging the power of Relativity and its SaaS solution RelativityOne. More information on the strategic partnership can be found in an earlier article on LTN.
EmpowerLegal
EmpowerLegal recently launched its Litigation Suite, a series of streaming video tutorials to help litigation attorneys and their clients prepare for major legal events including mediations, depositions and trials. Created and narrated by litigation attorney Alan S. Fanger, EmpowerLegal video tutorials provide depictions of depositions, mediations and trials. The videos aim to demystify intimidating litigation events and highlight and remedy clients' common mistakes while testifying. For example, when an actor-portrayed client in the video makes a tactical mistake answering questions, Fanger stops the action and intervenes—pointing out the error for the audience—then provides suggestions for a more effective response.
Everlaw
Everlaw's latest update includes a data visualizer, which allows any user to create interactive visualizations from any set of documents, with information about document dates, metadata, contents, formats, review activity and predicted relevance. This release also includes a major update to Everlaw's predictive coding system. The new system makes it easier to create and train new prediction models, provides more guidance on how best to make use of a model's predictions and makes the evaluation of a model's performance both richer and more interactive.
FileTrail
FileTrail is introducing FileTrail GPS, aka the Governance Policy Suite. The platform is designed to help law firms improve client retention by providing an information governance solution that manages outside counsel guidelines along with firm policies. FileTrail GPS seeks to change how law firms implement IG policies and meet outside counsel guidelines by managing retention policies across all repositories within the firm ecosystems and automating their review cycles to achieve auditable, defensible disposition.
iCONECT
iCONECT, developers of the iCONECT-XERA eDiscovery review software, has announced a series of product integrations leading into Legalweek 2018. The first is with Heureka Software—with the Heureka technology, an administrator can analyze data across multiple endpoints (remote laptops, workstations, shared servers, cloud-based repositories) from a single console, to surgically target data for early case assessment, preservation and collection. The second is with ayfie, whose Inspector text analytics engine will power the iCONECT-XERA eDiscovery Software Platform Analytics Module by combining linguistic analysis of actual semantics with machine learning. The third is a new integrated data processing module, powered by DFP Live, that was developed for both end-of-day emergencies and as a workhorse for big data processing projects.
Lex Machina
Lex Machina, a LexisNexis company, today announced the first state-specific expansion of its Legal Analytics platform to cover the Delaware Court of Chancery, the nation's preeminent forum for the determination of corporate and contractual disputes. The new module encompasses over 6,000 cases filed electronically since Oct. 26, 2012, providing data-driven insights and trends in case resolutions and findings across constitutional provisions, statutes and case law. The module illuminates the track records of opposing counsel and parties, and chronicles the behaviors and decisions of the court's judicial officers.
LMI
In an effort to help litigants and attorneys streamline and better manage discovery and data collection processes, Litigation Management Inc. (LMI) has rolled out its latest solution, LMI Exchange. The LMI Exchange platform enables parties in large-scale claims—whether in pre-litigation, litigation or alternative dispute resolution—to acquire claimant and plaintiff information through a 24/7 accessible, web-hosted portal. Among its features, the platform boasts increased collaboration with opposing parties on these documents, integration with other case and data management tools, and HIPAA and other security protocol compliance.
Quality EDGAR Solutions
On the heels of the SEC's rollout of two new forms that need to be filed digitally in 2018, Quality EDGAR Solutions has developed a single-source typeset-to-EDGAR HTML system. The new system, EDGAR Edge, is the first to take highly stylized typeset materials and convert them to EDGAR-compliant HTML. The process happens in minutes while maintaining all the data and formatting from the original document. This single source platform will be available for this year's proxy season, according to the company.
Relativity
Relativity has announced several updates to RelativityOne in time for Legalweek 2018, aimed at simplifying and accelerating the e-discovery process. New features available in RelativityOne—the company's SaaS e-discovery platform —include the availability of transcript support and an active learning workflow in Relativity Assisted Review. To support Relativity customers doing business outside of the U.S., RelativityOne will be available in Canada and Hong Kong this spring with availability in Germany in Q3, adding to RelativityOne's current presence in the U.S. and UK.
Ricoh
Ricoh has launched its Remlox Cloud service as the latest piece in its Digital Forensics services offering. Remlox Cloud adds personalization to Ricoh's patented Remlox Remote ESI Collection tool, allowing users to create a custom data collection request gathering only the specific information needed for a particular case or project and then automating the remaining processes and allowing for secure review of the data the same day as requested. All of the data is stored in Ricoh's secure Microsoft Azure Cloud environment for continued analyzing and review, with no increased technological knowledge or additional hardware needed. More on this solution will be forthcoming from LTN.
TCDI
Technology Concepts & Design Inc. (TCDI) recently launched SecureLaw 365, a cybersecurity service designed to address law firms' complex data privacy obligations. The program delivers an in-depth evaluation of a firm's current security level by identifying cyberexposures, then developing an action plan for improving cybersecurity.
