In this video, Nuix EMEA regional counsel William Mitchell talks to Legal Week publishing director John Malpas about data privacy in light of the recent introduction of the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
GDPR came into effect on 25 May this year, and the potential penalties for non-compliance are severe – any business found in breach can be fined up to 4% of its annual revenue or €20m, whichever is greater.
Subjects discussed in the video include the lessons learned in the months since GDPR's implementation, what companies should be doing now, and the territorial scope of the regulations – as well as their knock-on effect for other jurisdictions around the world.
