Theodore Boutrous Jr. might be the busiest litigator in Big Law. The Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher partner built his reputation representing major corporate clients (think Wal-Mart, Apple and Uber) in their bet-the-company cases.
Lately, he's stepped forward as a fierce advocate for press freedom in the face of attacks from President Donald Trump and led the team that took on the White House for revoking CNN reporter Jim Acosta's press pass.
On this week's Legal Speak podcast, Boutrous talks with D.C. reporter C. Ryan Barber about the fast-moving court fight, why it's dangerous to put political stamps on judges, and how partners and clients have responded to his outspoken Twitter posts.
Boutrous also shares his secrets for juggling big cases: trust, teamwork and “staying plugged in. … You have to be able to trust people and at the same time you need to be in on all the strategic decisions and immersed in the facts and the law.”
