Invisalign Maker Names New Top Lawyer as Longtime General Counsel Plans to Retire
Roger E. George, the longtime legal leader of Align Technology Inc., will retire from his role in August. He will be replaced by associate general counsel Julie Coletti, who joined the company in May 2018.

The top lawyer of the medical device company behind the Invisalign clear orthodontic braces announced he will retire in August as the company has promoted from within for his replacement.
Roger E. George, the senior vice president and chief legal and regulatory officer, of Align Technology Inc., leaves the company after 17 years. He was responsible for all of the company's legal affairs, including securities, governance, intellectual property, real estate and employment matters. George will be replaced by the company's associate general counsel, Julie Coletti.
Joe Hogan, Align's CEO, said George built the company's legal and regulatory functions from the ground up.
“Roger's insights, business acumen and devotion to our customers and employees have always been constant and we wish him the very best in his retirement,” Hogan said in the press release.
George joined Align in 2002 as the company's general counsel, according to his profile on the company website. Before joining Align, he worked as the chief financial officer and general counsel of SkyStream Networks. He has also worked as a partner at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati and as an associate with Buist, Moore, Smythe & McGee. He graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1992.
A spokeswoman for Align did not respond to requests for additional comment on Wednesday.
Coletti began her tenure at Align last year, according to her LinkedIn profile. Before Align, she worked as global general counsel and chief compliance officer of Danaher Corp. and served as chief legal officer of Medrad Inc., now a part of Bayer HealthCare. She was also an associate at LeBoeuf Lamb Greene & MacRae and Babst Calland. Coletti graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1993.
Hogan said in the press release he is pleased to have Coletti on the team.
“Her strong background in the medical technology, dental, and healthcare industries will further strengthen our world class legal and regulatory capabilities,” Hogan said.
Align is based in San Jose, California. Most notably, it is the manufacturer of Invisalign orthodontics system, the transparent alternative to metal braces.
