Listening to legal podcasts used to make Sarita Venkat angry. An experienced in-house lawyer, Venkat says she wasn't hearing the voices of the inspiring women she'd encountered in her career.
So Venkat teamed up with Katherine Minarik, a friend and fellow in-house lawyer in Chicago, to create the podcast 'Heels of Justice.' Minarik is chief administrative officer and global GC of Cleverbridge, an ecommerce software company. Venkat heads technology transactions and product legal for ServiceNow, a digital workflow platform.
Over about 20 episodes, they've interviewed guests including Ruby Zefo, the chief privacy officer at Uber; Maja Hazell, global head of diversity and inclusion for White & Case; and Juanita Brooks, a star litigator at Fish & Richardson.
On this Legal Speak episode, Venkat and Minarik share what they've learned from all those interviews, how they've navigated their own careers, and why diversity matters to them in hiring outside counsel.
