Allegations against former Baker McKenzie former London head Gary Senior were revealed on July 30 by the Solicitors Regulation Authority of England and Wales, which referred Senior and his former firm to the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal.

The prosecution referral details allegations of inappropriate behavior by Senior in 2012, including “seeking to initiate intimate activity,” toward a person at the firm [Person A] to which he was in a position of “authority and responsibility over.”

It further details that Senior had “knowingly caused Person A to be alone with him and told her he was attracted to her” and “attempted to embrace and kiss Person A,” adding that Senior “persisted in said conduct despite Person A indicating that such conduct was not appropriate.”

The filing also adds that Senior “improperly sought to influence the conduct of an investigation into the allegations,” as well as the investigation's outcome.

It added that he “failed promptly or at all to report to the SRA the conduct referred to.”

A spokesperson for Gary Senior said that he is fighting all the SRA allegations vigorously.

Senior left Baker McKenzie last summer after 34 years at the firm.

In February last year it emerged that a senior Baker McKenzie partner had allegedly sexually assaulted a female associate several years ago.

The partner, who could not be named, left the firm shortly after the allegations emerged.

Senior had joined the firm in 1984 as a trainee and made partner in the corporate practice in 1992, going on to serve three terms as London head between 2003 and 2013.

He then took up the role of EMEA chair, before unsuccessfully running to replace global chairman Eduardo Leite in 2016.
