Hogan Lovells partner Sylvain Dhennin has been rebuked by the ethics body of England and Wales after failing to inform the body of a dispute he had with an employee last year.

Dhennin faced a London employment tribunal in September 2018 after his former nanny successfully claimed she had been discriminated against and unfairly dismissed because she was pregnant.

The tribunal ordered Dhennin, who heads Hogan Lovells' high yield practice in Europe, to pay about $22,000 in compensation as a result.

The Solicitors Regulation Authority on Aug. 28 filed a judgment officially rebuking him for his conduct and for not reporting the Employment Tribunal judgment to the body. He has also been ordered to pay the costs of the SRA investigation of about $730. Dhennin is being represented by Kingsley Napley.

The SRA filing states that Dhennin had breached the SRA's Code of Conduct. The filing also added that his "the conduct caused loss or significant inconvenience to the nanny", and that it was "neither trivial nor justifiably inadvertent".

As such, the SRA states its rebuke "marks the seriousness of Mr. Dhennin's conduct and the impact it had on the nanny".

The filing also states that Dhennin "agrees that he will not act in any way which is inconsistent with this [SRA] agreement". If he fails to do so, it may "result in a disciplinary outcome or a referral to the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal on the original facts and allegations", according to the filing.

Hogan Lovells declined to comment. Dhennin did not respond to request for comment.
