London-listed U.K. firm DWF has bolstered its corporate and commercial practice with the hire of Sydney-based lawyer Kim O'Reilly.

O'Reilly, who is a principal lawyer—the equivalent of partner— at DWF, joined the national corporate team on September 2 from local firm Mills Oakley, where she was a special counsel in the Sydney private advisory team.

"I am pleased to welcome Kim to DWF. Kim is a well-regarded and highly accomplished lawyer and is set to strengthen our corporate team offering, in line with our rapid expansion," chairman of DWF Asia Pacific Mark Hickey said in a statement.

O'Reilly was with Mills Oakley for two years and previously held company officer and in-house legal advisor roles in some of Australia's largest investment banks and listed financial institutions, including AMP and Babcock and Brown.

"I'm delighted to join a truly global legal business at such an exciting time. I'm impressed with DWF's commitment to doing things differently, driving change through innovation and delivering greater outcomes for clients," she said.

This latest appointment, along with DWF's recent strategic hires in Australia, brings the total number of principal lawyers – equivalent to a partner – to 28 across Sydney, Brisbane, Newcastle and Melbourne.

In June DWF Australia absorbed 16-person Melbourne firm Korosidis Lawyers to double its banking and finance practice in Australia and in May it hired commercial litigator Cameron McKenzie for its Brisbane office.
