A leading corporate partner at Linklaters, Iain Wagstaff, has died following a cycling accident, the firm has announced.

According to the firm, the accident took place on the weekend of 31 August.

In a statement following his death, senior partner Charlie Jacobs said: "Charlie Jacobs, Senior Partner said: "It is with enormous sadness that we can confirm the death of Iain Wagstaff, a partner, friend and admired colleague at the firm.

"The firm's thoughts are with Iain's family as well as with his many friends at Linklaters and beyond the firm. Iain was an exceptional lawyer and a great friend to me and so many others. He will be very greatly missed."

Wagstaff was a well-known figure within the corporate practice. In 2017, Wagstaff co-led a team advising a buyout consortium on an acquisition of challenger bank Shawbrook and he was known to act for clients such as Investec.
