Since 1998, IICF has hosted its Week of Giving, a volunteer initiative that brings the insurance industry together through acts of service that benefit community charities and nonprofit organizations. Through the years, IICF's Week of Giving has welcomed 110,000 volunteers who have contributed more than 300,000 hours of volunteer service to nonprofits in the communities where they live and work. Happening this year from Oct.12-19, insurance companies, reinsurance companies, agents and brokers, and strategic partners of the industry will collaborate to support programs in the areas of education, children at risk, early literacy, homelessness, food insecurity, disaster preparedness, environmental responsibility, veterans, health and safety and more. Last year's Week of Giving was a record-setting event that featured 11,270 volunteers from 243 cities and 135 companies. View photo highlights from the 2018 Week of Giving in the gallery above. Each of IICF's five divisions: Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Western and United Kingdom will host different events in support of their charities of choice. IICF Western Division
Washington Chapter:
- Nonprofit: Friends of Discovery Park

- Project: Volunteers will be assisting in planting trees and spreading mulch.

- Project: Preschool Pumpkin Exploration — Activities may include STEM projects such as counting seeds, measuring plants, learning how they grow, arts and crafts activities, and using their senses to explore the pumpkin.

Southern CA Associate Board:
- Nonprofit: Children's Bureau
- Location: Los Angeles
- Project: Fun with Literacy! — The event on Oct. 15 is designed to get children excited to learn their letters while stretching their creative muscles.

IICF Southeast Division
Houston Chapter:
- Nonprofit: Houston National Cemetery
- Location: Houston
- Project: Veteran Cemetery Clean-Up Project — On Oct. 16, volunteers will assist staff with pruning and sculpting cemetery, washing memorial plaques, placing American flags around property, and repainting, as needed. The event is expected to clean 46,000 headstones this year.

- Project: Serving lunch at a soup kitchen, approximately 5 – 10 volunteers
+ Aon in Boston is supporting Nativity Prep's event, serving a meal to students and working on homework together.
Philadelphia Chapter:
- Nonprofits: Variety
- Location: Philadelphia and Worcester, Pa.
- Projects: Offering a list of volunteer opportunities throughout the Week of Giving, including grounds cleanup, etc. (outdoor or indoor available projects)
ICF United Kingdom Division
- Nonprofit: Whitechapel Mission
- Location: London
- Project: The Breakfast Challenge, which will involve preparing, cooking and serving a full cooked breakfast for clients of Whitechapel shelter, which can number up to 300 per day. Following breakfast service, volunteers will clean the kitchen and prepare for the next day's challenge.

- Nonprofit: St. Giles Trust
- Location: Sutton, Surrey
- Project: Employability Workshop — Volunteers will discuss skills and professional experiences with female clients and peer advisors, offering an opportunity to share knowledge and experience with a client group keen to equip themselves with skills to get into the workplace once they are released from custody. Workshop will focus on employability and confidence building, and may include topics such as CV writing, interview techniques, effective communication, working in a team and resilience and well-being.

The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer, is 3:24-cv-01423, Steins v. Sunrun, Inc. et al.
