What's your go-to routine?  I am currently training for a half marathon, so for the past few months I have been running four times a week, strength training or cross-training (biking or Pilates) two times a week, and I take an easy recovery day where I may do some yoga or light stretching.

How long does it take? Sixty to 90 minutes.

Why do you like this routine?  Training for races that are in different locations with varying terrain provides me with the opportunity to get outside and explore new running routes in all types of weather and to explore different cross-training activities with friends.

What does regular exercise do for you? It makes me feel empowered, centered and resilient.

How long have you been exercising regularly? Sports and exercise has always been a part of my life, since my early days of playing soccer and running cross-country, through college and law school, as I started my legal career, and through today. In addition to my daily routine, I've run eight marathons (including the Boston Marathon), more than 40 half marathons, and countless other races.

In what ways have you changed your routine over the months or years? My routine varies throughout the year based on whether I'm training for a race and whether that race is on the roads or on the trails. When I'm not "in training," I focus on easier-paced, conversational runs with friends, lower intensity workouts, and more cross-training. Recently, I have found doing more strength training, yoga and Pilates workouts are key to keeping me healthy, strong and flexible.

How do you convince yourself to work out when you don't want to?  I am extremely lucky to have a great group of running friends who motivate me to get out of bed in the morning to meet them—I don't want to disappoint them, and they keep me accountable!
