In "Warning Signs," the cover story for The American Lawyer's November issue, we put the recent collapse of LeClairRyan in perspective, analyzing three decades' worth of data on law firm failures and speaking with industry observers with firsthand experience of major dissolutions. The story illuminated some of the common threads tying together the most notable collapses. Below, we chart 30-plus years of firm failures, exploring the root causes that have led firms to fall apart.
