Association of Corporate Counsel Reveals New Board of Directors
Fresh off holding its annual meeting in Phoenix last week, the Association of Corporate Counsel has revealed its 2020 slate of officers and newly elected board of directors.

Fresh off holding its annual meeting in Phoenix last week, the Association of Corporate Counsel has revealed its 2020 global board of directors, including top lawyers representing companies in the Middle East, Europe and the U.S.
The international in-house bar group's chair is Anneliese Reinhold. Formerly the vice chair and treasurer, she is the general counsel and senior vice president of regulatory affairs of du, the Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Co., in the United Arab Emirates.
"ACC is moving in an exciting direction, embracing the 'Age of the CLO' and helping integrate in-house counsel all over the world in the new digital, international legal space," Reinhold said in a press release. "I look forward to working with the ACC board and leadership to continue building our global presence."
The Australian-born Reinhold leads the legal and regulatory functions at du, with winning the ACC's "Legal Department of the Year" Awards several times.
"Anneliese is an incredibly accomplished and creative in-house leader," said Veta T. Richardson, ACC president and CEO, in the release. "The breadth of her repertoire, from in-depth technological knowledge to intimate familiarity with the international business community, seem tailor-made to ACC's global membership and goals."
The vice chair is Jo Anne Schwendinger, the chief legal and compliance officer and corporate secretary of II-VI Inc. in Saxonburg, Pennsylvania. The secretary is Adrian Goss, the general counsel of Bauer Media Group in Australia, and the treasurer is Maria Varsellona, the group general counsel of ABB in Switzerland.
The newly appointed directors of the global board of directors are:
- Donny Ching, legal director of Royal Dutch Shell in the Netherlands
- Robert Falk, general counsel of Truth Initiative in Washington, D.C.
- Cristina Gonzalez, chief legal officer of Staples Inc. in Framingham, Massachusetts
- Melissa Kennedy, chief legal officer and executive vice president of Sun Life Financial in Toronto
- Ed Paulis, assistant general counsel and vice president, Zurich North America Group in Chicago
- Scott Taylor, general counsel, executive vice president and secretary of Symantec in Mountain View, California
- Liz Walker, general counsel of BT Global Services in London
The ACC boasts more than 45,000 members in 85 countries.

Driscoll from Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr have stepped in to represent Symbotic Inc., an A.I.-enabled technology platform that focuses on increasing supply chain efficiency, and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

Edmund Polubinski and Marie Killmond of Davis Polk & Wardwell have entered appearances for data platform software development company MongoDB and other defendants in a pending shareholder derivative lawsuit. The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
