How often during the week do you work out? Every day.

At what time during the day or evening do you work out? Usually, around 5 a.m. I'm well trained at going to bed early.

What's your go-to routine? I've been hooked on ultramarathons for the last few years, so my go-to routine is a run from my home to a large park with a network of trails and then a loop around the park on those trails back to my home. The trail network is pretty extensive, so I can vary my route often without losing consistency in training.

How long does it take? 90 to 100 minutes or so.

Why do you like this routine? I'm outside in nature and quiet (at least relatively so in an urban environment) and able to get into a state of flow that is only occasionally interrupted when I make eye contact with one of the many coyotes I've come to know in the park.

What does regular exercise do for you? Besides the physical benefits, it provides me with more energy and a clearer, calmer mind.

How long have you been exercising regularly? As long as I can remember.

In what ways have you changed your routine over the months or years? I'm often training for a specific goal, so the routine changes to try to accomplish it. In a broader sense over the years, I have found more motivation and satisfaction in longer outdoor workouts, so I look for ways to be in open spaces rather than in a gym.

How do you convince yourself to work out when you don't want to? I know that I will feel better after I work out (and that the feeling of not wanting to work out will often wane within the first few minutes of a workout) and that I'm likely to be happier and more productive the rest of the day.
