Last year proved to be a good one for lawyer hopefuls. The percentage of graduates from American Bar Association-accredited law schools who passed the bar exam on their first try climbed to 80% in 2019 from 75% the previous year, according to new ABA data. It's the first major gain in half a decade. But bar exam outcomes vary widely among the nation's 203 ABA-sanctioned law schools. First-time pass rates ranged from a high of 99% to a low of 36% last year. Here, we're counting down the 20 law schools with the highest 2019 first-time pass rates. You'll see plenty of usual suspects in there (think the T-14 schools) but you'll also encounter a few surprises.
