WHAT WE'RE WATCHING

LOOMING - We know it's coming. Litigation from COVID-19. Lots of it. Bankruptcy cases, sure. But what else? Jenna Greene, editor of Law.com affiliate Litigation Daily, talks with Gibson Dunn top litigator Randy Mastro who lays out what we can expect to see, from product liability to insurance coverage to disputes over lease obligations and labor and employment.

BUSY - Law firms with strong life sciences practices look to be in a better position than others to weather the COVID-19 pandemic, Patrick Smith reports. While the life sciences business is undergoing a huge change right now, those practices can expect to see a flow of regulatory matters, research and development work and even deals.

MOVERS – It's not looking good for the City of Oakland's antitrust case against the NFL over the Raiders' move to Las Vegas. Ross Todd reports that during a Zoom hearing in San Francisco Friday, U.S. District Chief Magistrate Joseph Spero sounded skeptical about the case, saying that if the city's claims were to move forward, it would be unclear what sorts of limitations, if any, the NFL could  impose on the number of teams in the league and where they play. The city sued the Raiders, the league and other franchises in late 2018, claiming they conspired to "boycott" Oakland. Spero dismissed an earlier complaint.
