Forget swanky lunches, cocktail parties and boat outings. Summer associate programs this year, for law firms still conducting them amid the coronavirus pandemic, are online endeavors at this point, as Zoom meetings replace law firms' best laid plans.
In this episode, Skadden's Gavin White, a partner in New York who helps handle the firm's summer associate program, talks with Law.com legal education editor Karen Sloan about the quick changes the firm had to make to its summer program and the steps it's taking to make the experience a meaningful one for participating law students. You'll also hear from Renee Griffin, who is finishing up her second year at Michigan Law School and who had big plans for a summer associate experience at Cleary Gottlieb. Griffin had to curb her summer associate expectations, as Cleary's program has been significantly shortened and moved online for now.
