Salary.com top lawyer Colin Levy has joined the ever-increasing ranks of the unemployed amid the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.

"I have lost my job," Levy announced Wednesday morning on Twitter.

"It was brutal," he continued. "I made many friends that I can no longer get to see each day and, more importantly, help each day. Help make sales. Help counsel. Help support."

Levy had served as corporate counsel for the Waltham, Massachusetts-based compensation data, software and consulting firm since July 2018. Attempts to speak with him and Salary.com representatives were not immediately successful.

Levy added in his Twitter post that he, "like so many others, was subject to the same cruel business calculus as others and now join[s] those countless others who are unemployed. I have been unemployed before. This time is different. It is during a time of uncertainty about everything. Yet, I will persevere."

He also wrote that his "ideal role would be one that would allow me to bridge the tech and legal worlds in a dedicated and personalized way."

Before working for Salary.com, Levy served as a contract negotiations manager for Pearson Education, a British company that provides educational content and services. He joined Pearson from C&W services, a firm in Auburndale, Massachusetts, where Levy worked as a temporary contracts counsel, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Last year, Levy was featured in an article in Corporate Counsel about his involvement in the first mentoring relationship under the Northeast chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel's pilot program for U.S.-based in-house counsel. Gemma Dreher, vice president and senior counsel at TD Bank N.A., was serving as Levy's mentor at the time.

"I think mentoring is a really powerful way for people to learn and grow," Levy said at the time, "especially for attorneys in a challenging world where demands can change on a whim."
