Courts and attorney-licensing entities should not hold in-person bar exams during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the American Bar Association.

The ABA's House of Delegates on Tuesday adopted a resolution urging jurisdictions to find alternative ways to license new attorneys until the pandemic subsides, such as supervised practice program, remote bar exams, and emergency diploma privileges. The resolution was among the most controversial on offer during the two-day House of Delegates meeting. It passed in a 256-146 vote, after more than an hour of vigorous debate.
