Court can be an intimidating place for litigants. Jury service is inconvenient. Sometimes showing up for a hearing means missing a day of work or taking a flight cross country.
Judge Emily Miskel of Collin County, Texas isn't afraid to say there might be a better way—and that experiments with online proceedings during the COVID-19 pandemic could be a starting place for lasting changes that make court more accessible and convenient.
