Lawyers, colleagues and friends are mourning the sudden death of a former prosecutor with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office who later worked as a criminal defense lawyer based in Fort Lauderdale.

Patrick Trese, who was 50, died from a heart attack that he suffered during an early-termination-of-probation Zoom hearing on Wednesday, according to Sean Ford, an attorney that worked at Trese’s law firm.
