The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Chicago has asked a federal judge to unseal a court filing by embattled attorney Tom Girardi’s law firm admitting that $2 million in client funds appeared to be missing.

The motion, made by First Assistant U.S. Attorney John Kocoras, was made after U.S. District Judge Thomas Durkin of the Northern District of Illinois found Girardi and his firm had not fully paid four clients, and possibly five. He issued a $2 million judgment and froze the assets of Girardi and his firm.
