The law firm that obtained a $2 million civil contempt order against Tom Girardi now insists that two former lawyers at Girardi Keese conspired with the prominent plaintiffs’ attorney to cover up missing client funds.

Edelson, the Chicago firm serving as local counsel to Girardi Keese in cases brought against Boeing over the 2018 crash of Lion Air 610, sought the contempt motion last month after four clients failed to receive their settlement payments. In a reply filed on Tuesday, Edelson’s Jay Edelson disputed statements filed in court last month from two former Girardi Keese lawyers, Keith Griffin and David Lira, that they had alerted Girardi about the missing funds but had no control over the transfer of money while at the Los Angeles plaintiffs firm.
