We're officially a year into the COVID-19 pandemic and balancing work and home life hasn't gotten easier for many lawyers—especially parents with children who are attending school remotely.

On this week's episode of Legal Speak, The American Lawyer reporter Dylan Jackson speaks with Corin Swift, a partner in Sidley Austin's securities enforcement practice who has been working from home while also taking care of her two teenage sons, the younger of whom has Down syndrome and requires extra support during the school day.  Swift talks about how the pandemic has upended her routine and blurred the lines between work and family time. She now attends early morning and late evening meetings to accommodate the varying schedules of her remote colleagues, and extends her workdays to make up for time spent facilitating her kids' schooling. While the pandemic has without a doubt been stressful, Swift says she has become closer to co-workers through seeing them in their home environments.
