Boston Scientific Corp. reached a $188 million settlement with 47 states and the District of Columbia over deceptive marketing claims regarding surgical mesh products.

“There are serious risks associated with these devices,” said Tennessee Attorney General Herbert Slatery III, whose state’s share of the settlement is $5 million. He added his goal is to “require companies like Boston to communicate clearly and truthfully about the safety of their products.”
