The pandemic didn't depress bar exam pass rates in 2020. The percentage of graduates from American Bar Association-accredited law schools who passed the bar exam on their first try rose to 83% in 2020, up from 80% the previous year, according to new ABA data. It's the second-straight notable gain in more than five years. But bar exam outcomes vary widely among the nation's 198 ABA-sanctioned law schools. First-time pass rates ranged from a high of nearly 99%, to a low of 35% last year. Here, we're counting down the 20 schools with the highest first-time pass rates in 2020. You'll see plenty of elite law schools in the mix, and a few that might surprise you.
